Our History

Daro Group and all of its companies undergo a brand refresh to reflect the development of the company and breadth of services now offered. The logo was designed to showcase our decades of experience as a trusted and agile British manufacturing and assembly services provider. As part of the rebrand Daro Fibre Products is renamed Daro Connectivity and Daro Products is renamed Daro Manufacturing Services.
Group buys Watersavers. Specialists in flow rate and pressure monitoring water leak detection solutions, valves & PIR controls, legionella prevention solutions and urinal controls. Fits Daro's key acquisition criteria and has clear identifiable synergies with Daro Group.
Our purpose-built, controlled environment, electrical assembly facility opens.

Daro Aquafides alliance is launched to deliver certified and validated water disinfection solutions to the UK municipal and industrial water treatment markets.

Daro Group is given critical supplier status during the Covid-19 pandemic and remains operational throughout.

Launch of graduate training scheme.

Launch of apprenticeship programme in partnership with West Suffolk College.
Daro Specialist Lighting formed as a platform for expansion and incorporates Light Years Ahead and Light by Design providing an expanded range of products for the custodial and mental healthcare markets.

Daro Technologies is formed as the technology and research & development centre.
Group buys Light Years Ahead – specialist anti-ligature and vandal-resistant luminaires for custodial, mental healthcare and civil sectors.

Group forms new company Daro Fibre Products with industry experts in connectivity for the ever-growing demands of communication networks and takes Group to a team of 45.
Manufacturing Services acquires dedicated stand-alone fabrication and welding facility.
Daro UV Systems moves to a purpose-built production and warehouse facility.
Daro Group established to deal with growing company structure – 25 staff.
Companies accommodate 25,000 ft of production and office space.

Daro UV Systems is established.
Daro Products, a multi-offering manufacturing business, is established from a management buyout of UV Systems that has 10 staff.

Mervyn Douglas


Mervyn joined Daro in 2016 bringing 20 years’ experience in business and finance. His role is to lead the strategic direction of Daro, managing continuous investment in resources to enable people, businesses and the group to achieve their long-term objectives.

Group Head of Finance and
Human Resources

Sarah is Group head of finance and human resources, overseeing the accounts and a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA). Since joining Daro in 2004 Sarah’s role has continuously developed to now encompass overseeing group IT, health & safety and property services as well as finance and human resources.

Karen joined the group in 2019 bringing over 30 years’ experience in sales and marketing. Her role is to develop marketing strategies across the group, lead the branding to create consistency whilst maintaining individuality.

Lee McCarthy

Continuous improvement

Lee joined Daro Group in 2020 and with 30 years in the industry brings a wealth of knowledge in the design, manufacture and application of lighting. Utilising his extensive experience in lean manufacturing, Lee is responsible for driving continuous improvement across Daro.

Dave Joined Daro in 2017 as operations manager in connectivity. Prior to that he worked in a number of telecom related companies for 35 years. He brings highly valuable experience in design & production engineering and leads compliance and quality assurance practices for the group.

Luke joined Daro in 2022 having worked in marketing and design for 12 years. He brings a wealth of industry experience from various sectors including branding, campaign and event planning. His responsibility is to progress the marketing strategy and maintain branding group-wide.

Rachel Miles

Finance Assistant and
Business Support

Rachel joined Daro in 2017. In addition to making our customers, suppliers and visitors feel very welcome she assists with the accounts and works closely with all of the business divisions where needed.

As part of the continuous development of the group services, Sue joined Daro to work alongside Rachel, assisting with the accounts and providing additional central support for the business divisions.
